I'm home safely. It was a 27 hour trip but the flights were good and the sitting all night in the Bangkok airport wasn't as bad as I expected. It seemed as the miles "flew" by I became less and less in the Thai mode and more and more in the US mode. Having been home now for a few hours I've totally crossed over.
I wish I had something profound or amusing to say to end this blog but I don't. It was a great trip. I learned a lot, I had a lot of fun, I met a lot of really good people, I saw a lot of interesting places, I helped some people and I watched a monk burn up in a blaze of glory. I think that qualifies as a pretty good trip...

So glad you are home - safe and sound. Thank you for allowing me to experience your journey through your very generous reactions, actions, graphic, amusing and alway insightful musings. I followed you by globe (can't remember the last time I used one so bought a child's blow-up version at the Walker) and most importantly, felt a connection to a part of the world to which I had none. I have so enjoyed experiencing the sites and sounds of the places you visited through your wonderfully descriptive writings. Honestly, I looked very forward to your adventures and felt I was even seeing, tasting, and sometimes smelling the culture surrounding you. How fortunate for you that you were able to contribute so much to them; how fortunate for them that they had you; how fortunate for me that I could get a peek at the Thai, Vietnamese, Laotian way of life via your blogging. You think only your mother can feel nachas? As a Jew, I am thankful for the great mitzvah of Tikkun Olam you performed. You did help repair this world with your hard work and generous personality. As an American, thank you for your positive presence abroad. And through all this you seemed to have so much fun. And so did I. Welcome home. Lois Berman
