Number 29

A short one today. Slept late (8:45), watched some cricket with my morning coffee, read the Bangkok Post, had lunch with Dave and Nang at a neighborhood 2 table place, worked on the computer (with my iPod and headphones) for a few hours outside with a beautiful blue sky punctuated with the odd billowy white cloud and a light breeze just to top things off.

The Chiang Mai University Law students and Professor Pan flew back from GAJE so Dave navigated and I drove out to the airport to pick some of them up and haul a bunch of the BABSEA displays back to the house in the Brucemobile. And now Sam and Nang are cooking some Lao dish that smells great but will no doubt have a bunch of things I can't identify in it. They always offer to share and I don't like to insult them so I told them I can't eat pork and that takes care of 98% of the meals they cook.

Tomorrow I get my new suit and pack for Vietnam. And then I'm on to the next chapter of this adventure. Knowing what I know about how things work in this part of the world I have no idea what is waiting for me. I leave here on the 16th and return on the 24th. At least that's what I know "in this moment". And that works for me.

A quiet but perfectly wonderful day in Chiang Mai.
