Number 21

Today is the King's Birthday. He isn't feeling well and in fact his son the "naughty Prince", as he's known for a variety of reasons, gave the King's yearly Birthday Speech.

It was a quiet day here. Worked on last minute speech revision in the morning. Around lunch time Mark and I walked to the Central Market to get last minute supplies Bruce emailed that we need in the Philippines. Had lunch in the Thai Food Court and had yet another nice, tasty fried fish dish. My Thai is getting much better and in fact I'm almost fluent in pointing. After lunch I went into the Central Department Store to get some star stickers for Bruce and I couldn't find them. So I pointed to the clerk's pen and she handed it to me along with a piece of paper. I drew a star and mimed removing the backing and sticking it on. I was amazing in my demonstration. So good that she immediately walked right over to the Globes with lights inside and smiled broadly. I found the stickers at the book sale they were having in the center court area on the third floor.

This afternoon was spent building a new display that Bruce feels he needs. He doesn't seem to understand the Jew-tool thing but I managed to make it presentable. Now someone has to haul it to the Philippines. I'm already at my weight limit with brochures and t-shirts and my things. It's been a quiet evening. I watched Juno with the Lao professors. That was a bit odd. Mark and I promised to help Ella with her debriefing reports so I guess I'll go see what we can do.

A quiet, easy day in Chiang Mai.
